"Made in Japan" are the words toy collectors look for in their pursuit of high quality mechanical tin toys. Before the second World War these words were synonymous with cheap, poor quality, toys made from recycled materials. Most of the toys were people, animal orientated, with less emphasis on vehicle, nautical, or aircraft-type toys. After the War the Japanese knew they had to come up with a new, different and exciting type of toy to compete with the Germans and Americans. The Japanese toy designers concentrated their technology on a different type of toy operation. The toy engineers developed a small electric motor, powered by flashlight batteries. This mini motor took up less room, had a longer running duration and enabled the toy to perform more functions. This introduced the concept of the battery operated toy. No other nation was able to equal or surpass the impetus and determination of the Japanese toy makers.
*We always ensure that each toy is securely packaged to minimise damage.
We have never had any complaints due to our packaging.
Due to the very sensitive nature and age of these battery operated toys while in transit the toy may come under stress causing a component to come loose, this is unfortunately a risk that one takes when purchasing battery operated toys.
All of our toys are inspected and tested when entering and leaving our store.
It is good for the battery operated toy to be run at least once a month to keep working parts running smoothly.
We try our best to run the toys as often as possible while in our store.
Sometimes a gentle tap with your hand will be enough to get the toy running.
Incase of any problems we always offer a 7 day refund on all purchases.
*Grading system explained - We try to be precise as possible when descibing items but at times it can be difficult as all descriptions/grading systems are very subjective.
We use numbers in our grading system from '1' to '10'.
Number '1' means that the item is extremely poor fit for restoration, number '10' means that the item is in mint condition (the condition that the item was in when leaving the factory or manufacturer).
Number 5 is obviously mid-range.
