Made in the 1920-30's this clockwork doll would have been owned by a child from a very wealthy family.
Made in Japan.
Excellent doll which can be seen in page 144 illustration 319, in the book "A centuary of celluloid dolls by Shirley Buchholz". This ? boy doll has painted blue eyes, red rosebud closed mouth, moulded hair.
Celluloid head, arms and legs.
Torso and feet are tinplate.
Keywound clockwork mechanism with replacement key.
Metal bars run from body to feet and are covered by celluloid legs.
Red metal shoes with four wheels on each on underside.
Doll walks and swings his arms and turns his head.
Wearing cotton socks.
Clockwork mechanism appears to be in excellent working condition.
Has a small area one inch accross on left hand side of back of head, where it has denting and has a tiny hole.

Overall is in very good condition for its age with rub marks.
Is slightly in need of a clean.
This doll would look even better with period clothes.
